Unbiased Independent Recommendations
CMPAS uses a consultative approach with its members. In addition, CMPAS passes all power supply costs through to its members at a cost to further reduce any potential for a conflict of interest surrounding portfolio recommendations. CMPAS’s goal is to be indifferent to whether or not a member elects to participate in a recommended agency-sponsored project or whether they choose to self-supply a portion of their portfolio. CMPAS wants what is in the best interest of each member.
Participation in CMPAS allows members and affiliates to remain quasi-independent by helping them stay informed to navigate the complex and changing electric utility industry
CMPAS members retain their autonomy and the flexibility to customize their portfolio to their specific desires and objectives. Members can meet their portfolio needs from both agency-sponsored projects and from member self-supplied resources (local generation and other member secured third party contracts).
Increased Access to Opportunities
CMPAS members belong to a “buyer’s club” that leverages their purchasing power and extends access to larger opportunities, giving them a seat at the table to participate in agency-sponsored opportunities.
Knowledge and Information
CMPAS membership allows members access to a forum of peer municipal utilities facing similar challenges, and to the specialized expertise of CMPAS staff.
Ability to Focus on Local Matters
CMPAS membership allows members to spend less time focusing on power supply and transmission matters so that they can focus more on local distribution and customer matters.
