The New CMMPA Logo Unifies Utility and Customer Services Brands
Just in time for Central Minnesota Municipal Power Agency’s (CMMPA) 30-year anniversary, its logo is being revitalized to complement the logo of its management and consulting services agent, Central Municipal Power Agency/Services (CMPAS – pronounced “compass”). The revitalized CMMPA logo and corresponding tagline represents the continuity between the utility projects handled by CMPAS and community service projects of CMMPA’s recently launched consumer-services division.
Powering a Brighter Future
CMMPA was established in 1987 for the sole purpose of cost-sharing outside consulting and legal services associated with negotiating a power supply contract with Xcel Energy (known as NSP). At the time, utility members’ chose a project-based model for their joint power agency. In 1998, the Agency formed Utilities Plus (renamed CMPAS) as a utility services organization to manage CMMPA’s increased needs as it began replacing the long-term NSP contract with individual, customized power supply contracts.
Municipal Compass to Power
As marketplace complexity and members’ needs increased, CMPAS grew from one employee in 1998 to a comprehensive management and consulting organization of 13 employees with a diverse set of technical and financial skills. Over the years, the project-based approach has worked to members’ advantage by allowing them flexibility and autonomy as either a full or partial requirements member for power supply, transmission, energy market and strategic planning services.
Smart Energy Today, Tomorrow, Together.
In 2017, CMPAS created a separate customer community services division named Central Municipal Power Community Services (CMPCS). The parallel division concentrates on customer retail services, such as the long-standing conservation improvement/energy efficiency and green pricing programs and its recently introduced community solar program. The circle of CMPCS’s logo signifies how CMPAS works “together” with CMMPA’s member utilities and their customers on retail energy services. The separation of CMPCS’s customer-oriented projects from CMPAS’s utility-focused services will help retail customers more easily navigate information resources from CMMPA's two divisions.
Smart Choices Today. Savings Tomorrow.
Under the new CMPCS brand, the previously known Savings Plus name and logo were changed to My Energy Savings (MES). The change more directly describes conservation improvement and energy efficiency offerings and makes energy savings even more personal. The MES program offers customers efficiency rebates, consultations, and information regarding best practices to control power costs.
R4 - Renew, Reduce, Respect, Repeat
Under the new CMPCS brand, the agency offers a GreenPower pricing program and a new community solar subscription program. The four R’s of R4 represent your utility’s practices that “Are For” utilizing sources of renewable energy, reducing unnecessary energy use, respecting the environment, and repeating steps toward responsible energy practices.
Even as CMMPA/CMPAS/CMPCS improve and delineate their services through branding, the objectives remain the same – help utilities and customers minimize costs, manage risks, and maintain stable and competitive rates.
A Family of Logos
We hope that you agree that the new family of logos convey the consistent quality that the agency works to achieve every day.
