Above and Beyond the Call
We are proud to recognize the selfless linemen from our member city of Sleepy Eye, MN who volunteered to help those affected by Hurricane Irma. Pulling and attaching wire to a utility pole, Sleepy Eye Public Utility Lineworkers, Jose Saenz & Jeff Meyer, are pictured above working with other utility crews in FL after Hurricane Irma.
As a result of Irma's devastation, nearly 7 million customers were without power, with 800,000 of those customers residing in public power cities, much like Sleepy Eye.
Two linemen joined with 15 Minnesota Municipal utilities and more than 1,000 crews from 19 states to restore power to hundreds of thousands people in need. It is absolutely incredible to see men and women who are willing to travel halfway across the country and work long hours to help complete strangers.
It is this dedication and compassion that we value as a public power utility, and we hope that you enjoy working with us as much as we enjoy working with all of you.
